The main objective of this course is to teach employees how to safely work in extreme heat and reduce the risk of heat-related illness. Effect of hot conditions on health and safety. Heat stroke & heart and blood vessels. Risks and precautions - Using of ventilation, cooling fans, and evaporative cooling. - Shield furnaces and other heat producing equipment. - Steam leaks. - Plan the most strenuous work for the coolest parts of the day. - Wear of Hat, loose, lightweight, light colored clothes and sunscreen to work outdoors. - Drink water before and during work. - Effect of balanced meals, hot food, alcohol and caffeine. - Take salt tablets to replace what’s lost in perspiration, if approved by a doctor. - Work at a steady pace, minimizing overexertion.
